An Escape

As the race intensifies
Pressure reaches the peak
The mind shuts down and resigns
Leaving the ever growing list
Abandoned in yesterday

I escape to infinity
A place so quiet
Borderless and stagnant
Plain and gray
Empty and fade

I surrender to nothingness
At the edge of the chasm I stand
And stare deep into the void
So deep that I forget
The very day of tomorrow

At the fall of the dusk
I stand on the cliff edge
And raise my hands to the sky
Soon the ill wind arrives
And I lend my burden away

Darkness grow apace
As I lay here and rest
I rest and I rest
And with fake pleasure
I watch time fall and die

Morning Sun will soon arise
Beneath the dawning sky
I drag my feet to exit
As the old song keeps playing
Time and again
